05/09/2013 I think both are fine, but prefer Gates for the reason stated- pretty sure they make a lot of OEM belts.
Dayco may, as well.
If not, they’re certainly reputable, anyway.
On the timing belt itself, I would take either.
For accessory drive belts , , I’ll take generic parts store brands.
But what’s more important is the other components.
Dayco engine belts are often available in kits full of other accessories, and it also manufactures pulley systems to accompany the belts.
One of Dayco #s quietest serpentine belts is the Dayco.
04/10/2009 Dayco belts suck IMO.
I use gates and never have any problems or comebacks.
I put a dayco belt with a new tensioner my 91 gmc van and it started squeaking after about a month.
Replaced it with gates belt and it was good for years.
I have never used a goodyear serpentine belt.
06/02/2014 My old truck, and heck, this new one also, chirps in the morning at first start, particularly if its damp.
I think that is completely normal.
The OEM supplier for belts is Bando.
I would choose Gates belts and tensioners over Dayco.
ACDelco is a rebranded Gates.

Reason being I ordered a Gates from RM!!!!!n and got a Dayco.
The parts have been sitting in the box since Sept.
and I just noticed.

Normally a Squeak is caused my improper tension or a bad pulley, a small amount of cracking is normal after 3 years depending on the mileage you have put on.
